Solar Energy systems 

In response to increased interest by individuals and companies in solar development within rural Goodhue County, the County adopted Solar Energy System (SES) Regulations. The purpose of these regulations, found in Article 19 of the County Zoning Ordinance, is to regulate the installation and operation of Solar Energy Systems pursuant to applicable Minnesota Statutes and Rules. 

SES are permitted according to their intended application (residential, commercial, or utility). All SES installations require permits, and Utility-scale installations require Conditional Use Permit approval from the County Board of Commissioners.
